Superintendent Dr. Dylan Connell announced Kitchen as the finalist for the position in a letter to the school community on March 6. The Board of Education is expected to finalize the decision at its meeting on March 10 at 6 p.m.
Connell thanked the many staff members, families, and community members who participated in the search process through surveys, listening sessions, and interview panels.
"Your input—through survey responses, insights at listening sessions, and the dedicated time of dozens of interview panelists—was essential in helping us find the best fit candidate for our school," Connell wrote.
Kitchen currently serves as an instructional coach and team lead and has a strong track record of supporting both student achievement and teacher development. Connell noted that she has helped increase student achievement, supported teachers through professional development and coaching, and helped develop systems that align resources to better support staff and students.
"Many panelists commented on her passion for students and valued that Mrs. Kitchen is already part of our community," Connell wrote.
Connell added that Kitchen demonstrated a strong commitment to collaboration and continuous improvement during the interview process.
"It was also clear in her interview that Mrs. Kitchen has a unique ability to be highly supportive to her team while also unifying them for continuous improvement and excellent student outcomes," he wrote.
Kitchen expressed excitement about serving the Bayfield Primary School community and working with staff and families to support students. The Board of Education will consider her appointment during its regular meeting on Tuesday, March 10, at 6 p.m.
