Principal's Message

Dear BPS Families,

It is with great excitement that I welcome you to the 23-24 school year at Bayfield Primary School.Our theme for this school year is Embracing Change. As we engage in our new reading curriculum, increase our collaboration efforts, align our goals from district to building to staff to students, and dig deeper into the principles of Continuous Improvement, we are confident that the challenge and hard work of positive change will benefit every stakeholder.  Our priority purpose in this change effort is meeting the relational and academic needs of all students.  

At BPS we believe in providing every student with a safe and welcoming environment; positive, meaningful relationships; an enjoyable, engaging learning experience; and high-quality instruction. At the primary level, there is often tension between rigor and developmentally appropriate practices. Both can be done well together and it is my goal to guide the creation of classrooms that reflect each child’s learning capacity rather than their age. At BPS, learning how to learn is as important as academic content and skills, and sets our youngest learners up for long-term success.

I feel extremely fortunate to be the principal of a school with such wonderful children, a motivated and dedicated staff, and parents who work with us to create an environment that facilitates academic excellence and strong character. Effective and supportive school-family relationships are important to us here at BPS and we look forward to building a partnership with each and every one of you! I welcome your input and involvement in our school community and I truly appreciate your support as we journey through this school year together.
