Ms. Madeline's First Grade Class

Hello Families!

My name is Madeline Shea and I am so excited to be your child’s new 1st grade teacher!  I have been teaching in Bayfield for the last 6 years, and eleven years before that I taught in Denver. I have a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Reading and Writing.  I also have endorsements as a Reading Teacher and in Culturally and in Linguistically Diverse Education and am a Certified American Montessori Teacher of Early Education.  What I love most about working with first graders is their positivity and warmth, observing their budding personalities and supporting their growth as emergent readers and writers!

I look forward to welcoming your child and family into a safe, engaging and inclusive classroom this year.  I am so excited to create a warm environment where each child and family feels respected and valued as an important part of our classroom community.

On a personal note, I live here in Bayfield with my goldendoodle, Salem. He joins me in as many adventures as possible!  (Perhaps you have seen us walking around Bayfield!) In my free time I enjoy spending time outside  rafting,  mountain biking, camping, and stand up paddle boarding.  I am a loving aunt to a nephew (all grown up) and three young nieces.
