Welcome to First Grade!

Dear amazing students and families,  I hope you had an enjoyable and relaxing summer where memories were made. How exciting to be at the start of a new school year! My name is Leslie Patana and I will be your child's first grade teacher this year! I am so grateful and excited to have the opportunity to work with you and your child. I am excited for us to create and support a positive learning experience for your child. I am looking forward to a year filled with learning, fun and adventures. I am excited to get to know each one of you and your special talents. It brings me so much joy to watch these children grow emotionally and academically. The bonds they form are magical.

 

Let me start by sharing a little information about myself, professionally and personally. This is my third year here at Bayfield Primary School in first grade. I have been teaching for over 17 years! I have a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. 

 

My family has been in the southwest area for over 21 years! We are originally from Kansas City,  MO. I have been married to my husband for 24 years and we have 2 girls who are the ages 23 and 17. Zoe, my oldest, is a Dental Hygienist in Cortez and Madelyn, my youngest is a Senior at Aztec High school. My family has 4 dogs, 1 cat and a rabbit! It's quite an adventure. We enjoy spending time camping, boating, riding bikes, hiking and watching the gorgeous sunsets! We are truly blessed to live in such a beautiful place!
